Personalised Tote Bag Design

For this school assignment, we were asked to design a tote bag with a clear purpose and a specific target audience. We were free to choose our own theme. I created a Disney-inspired tote bag for my two young nieces, who are both big fans of Disney characters, especially Mickey Mouse.

The project started with a printmaking workshop in which we learned how to prepare, print and finish our own designs. I first developed several ideas and sketches based on the recognizable shape of Mickey Mouse. I then simplified the design so that it would remain clear and visually strong when printed on fabric.

To make each tote bag more personal, I added the name of each niece to the design. I used blue as the main colour because it creates a strong contrast with the natural fabric of the bag.

Result and Purpose

The final result was a personalised and reusable tote bag that combined a practical function with an emotional value. Each niece received a unique bag featuring her own name and a design inspired by one of her favourite characters.Through this project, I gained experience in developing a design for a specific target audience, preparing artwork for textile printing and completing the printing process independently at school.
