Kellogg’s Jungle Bits
For this Brand Design Lab assignment, we were asked to develop a Kellogg’s cereal concept for a specific target audience. We had to create a suitable flavour, choose a brand archetype and translate these choices into an attractive packaging design.
I developed Kellogg’s Jungle Bits, a playful cereal concept created for children between four and nine years old. The main challenge was to design packaging that would immediately attract children while still appearing clear and trustworthy to their parents. The primary target audience consists of children aged four to nine who enjoy colourful characters, playful stories and adventurous themes.
At this age, children are strongly attracted to illustrations, animals and packaging that turns an everyday activity into a fun experience. I selected The Explorer as the brand archetype. This archetype represents curiosity, adventure, freedom and discovery. The jungle theme invites children to explore a playful world while enjoying their breakfast. Parents form the secondary target audience, so the packaging also needed to remain organised, informative and easy to understand.

Design Process and Final Result
I translated the Explorer archetype into a jungle-inspired visual identity. I used green and natural tones to create an adventurous atmosphere and combined them with friendly animal illustrations that appeal to young children. The playful typography, leaves and jungle characters guide the viewer around the packaging and make the product easy to recognise on a supermarket shelf. The animal illustrations also create opportunities for storytelling and make breakfast feel like a small adventure. The final result is a colourful and recognisable cereal package that responds to the imagination of children while presenting the product clearly to parents. Through this project, I learned how to define a target audience, apply a brand archetype and transform strategic choices into a coherent packaging design.
